Privacy policy

Two things happen here. The site runs analytics so we can see which pages get read, and there are forms you can choose to fill in. Leave those alone and this site never learns your name or your email address. There is no account to create and no comments section.

Who this is

What gets collected

When you load a page, the analytics tools below record the sort of thing analytics tools record: which page you looked at, roughly where in the world you are, what browser and device you used, how you arrived, and how long you stayed. None of that identifies you by name, and we never try to work out who you are from it.

Nothing on this site asks for your phone number or your payment details. The only personal details it can collect are the ones you type into the one form on the site, where you tell us about your house.

The free calculators run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type into one is sent anywhere, stored or logged. The numbers travel in the address bar so you can share a result as a link, and that link goes wherever you send it and nowhere else.

If you fill in a form

There is one form on this site, the one where you tell us about your house. There is no newsletter and no mailing list.

The form stores what you typed into it, which is your name, your email address, your city and suburb, how many bedrooms the house has, whether you would rather meet in person or on Zoom, and whatever you wrote in the last box. It is used to talk to you about the work and nothing else.

All of it is stored in our own database on Cloudflare, which is where this site is hosted. It does not go to a mailing list provider or a customer database, it is never sold, rented or handed to anyone else, and it is used only for what the form said it was for.

To be removed, email enquiries@houseofrobots.au from the address you used, or naming the address you want gone. It gets deleted from the database, not just flagged, and you will get a reply confirming it. No reason required and nothing to justify.

The tools

Google Analytics 4

Counts page views and sessions and groups them into reports. Run by Google. It sets cookies to tell one visit apart from the next and truncates IP addresses rather than storing them in full.

Google Tag Manager

The container the other two tags load through. Run by Google. It does not collect anything about you on its own.

Microsoft Clarity

Records how pages are used: scroll depth, clicks, and anonymised session replays that show a cursor moving over the layout. Run by Microsoft. It is used to find things that are broken or hard to read. There are no forms or logins on this site for it to capture.

All three are third parties with their own privacy terms, and data they collect can be processed outside Australia, including in the United States. Google and Microsoft each publish what they do with it.

Cookies

The cookies on this site come from the analytics tools above. They are not needed for anything to work, so blocking them costs you nothing. Every browser can block or clear cookies for a single site, and Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics everywhere at once.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, the analytics tools handle it under their own settings.

What is not happening

Nothing collected here is sold or handed to advertisers, data brokers or anyone else. There is no advertising network and no remarketing pixel. The two email lists are ours alone and go nowhere. If any of that changes, this page changes first and the date at the top changes with it.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) you can ask what personal information an organisation holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, and ask for it to be deleted. Email the address above and you will get an answer. In practice the only thing we could be holding is an email address you typed into one of the two forms, and that gets deleted on request.

Changes

When this policy is updated, the date at the top of the page is updated with it.
